This award-winning addition to the historic Santa Monica City Hall houses the City Building & Safety’s permit center, in addition to City staff offices and ancillary spaces currently housed in multiple lease spaces throughout the city. This building is a three-story above-grade concrete structure, plus a basement, and includes mechanically operated glazing vents, photovoltaics, gray water treatment, and collects and treats potable water for use in the building. It is designed as the first full Living Building Challenge Building for a municipality in the state of California.
